Zma Hoops! 11/04/2023 "Back to Hooping"

Welcome to my new blog!
I confess I am no stranger to blogging. I had a self-improvement, stream of consciousness blog called "Soulrunnings" which I kept up nearly daily for about 6 years!
But then a whole bunch of life happened. Some good, some bad, some in between. The way life does.
My last blog post on Soulrunnings was May 31, 2023: Year 4, Day 328. It was an eye-opening post. I really have come far in my quest for self improvement. I lost 60 pounds and got to know, and love my authentic self like never before!

So, the other night I sat up in bed and told myself, "Self, it is time for a new blog! A more positive blog! No more whining and complaining. Less profound, wandering thoughts. More action!"
Not that whining, complaining and profound, wandering thoughts are such a bad thing. They definitely served their purpose. I needed to dig deep.
I've dug. But not ready to throw myself into the hole. I'm ready to simply be!
One positive common denominator throughout my whole quest for self improvement has been exercise. Especially hooping. Working out with a weighted hoop.
I began about 6 1/2 years ago. I videoed my daily hooping. Here is day 1!
I made it to 322 days before I sat my hoop aside. I was struggling with asthma and depression. And a major shift in priorities. Priorities of the grandmonkey kind! Oh, and a male interest.
I lost interest in my daily blog and threw myself into redefining myself according to my new roles:
Zma and girlfriend.
Currently I have 6 grandmonkeys, ranging from age 6 weeks to 6 years. Soon there will be 7. A new baby boy due early 2024.
The Zma role has rocked my world. I absolutely love grandparenting. I have been dubbed "Zma" since there are other grandmas in the picture.
I love being Zma!
But it is hard work. Not for the wimpy!
Neither is being in a relationship. Over 3 years now. But that is a different story.
What I want to focus on in this blog is how I am improving my health - physically, mentally and emotionally, one hoop at a time!
One WEIGHTED hoop at a time, I should say!
And so I begin again! I have been hooping every morning on my back porch (notice my cool jungle animal backdrop - a remnant from the pandemic and online piano lessons). Today is day 65. I've noticed I don't feel human until after my morning hoop.
(My boyfriend always purposely hears "morning poop". Well, that is a good thing as well!)
My weight is still a bit more than healthy. But i am, as always working on the eating habits. I have grown weary of obsessing on food. Exercise is my current obsession. But in a nutshell, I focus on fresh fruit, veggies, lean protein, legumes, seeds, water and tea. I make most of my meals. Portion control and intermittent fasting are key for me. In addition to the morning hoop, I walk an average of 3 miles a day, and do light weights at the gym 3 to 4 times a week.
But back to hooping!
